I can be very picky when it comes to pizza. I've worked in so many pizzerias that it isn't even funny. Because of this I've had a lifelong quest of trying to make the best pizza at home. If you've ever made pizza at home, you know that it can be a challenge. But there are some things you can do to make better pizza for yourself or for your family.
Whether you want to make a thin crust pizza or a thick crust pizza, it all comes down to the quality of the dough. The pizzerias that I worked in that had the best pizza always made their dough from scratch. The pizzerias that used frozen dough never tasted as good. Try making your pizza dough the same day that you're going to cook it. The dough is the basis for any pizza, so don't skimp here.

I'd also recommend making your pizza sauce fresh and from scratch. I've sampled every brand of pizza sauce on the market, and nothing beats make it yourself. Try adding some garlic as well as adding oregano to the sauce to give it a great flavor. Another tip is to not use that much sauce on your pizza as it can make it come out undercooked.
Now let's talk about the toppings. Once again, the fresher the better. Use fresh vegetables and don't use anything from a can, unless of course we're talking about olives. You should try a mixture of cheese that has mozzarella as well as jack. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese on top when done for that extra flavor. Don't use too many toppings, although you can use more than your local pizzeria would. The reason for this is that the pizza never really gets a chance to cook all the way through if there are too many toppings.
